Short term ESC for Allianssi Youth Exchanges office
Description of host organization
Allianssi Youth Exchanges works for intercultural learning and global understanding via international learning mobility programs and projects. We coordinate volunteer and training programs both in Finland and abroad (ESC, Erasmus+, international volunteering). We are involved in community projects engaging youth and actions increasing awareness on environment, climate justice, sustainability and diversity.
Volunteer's tasks
We are looking for 1-2 short term volunteer from early July 2026 for 4-8 weeks (until the end of August).
Allianssi Youth Exchanges short term volunteer takes part in organising events and activities and acts as a group leader in a volunteer camp or a youth exchange. The volunteer communicates with young people related to different programs and exchanges through social media using story telling, videos and photographs.
The volunteer works with a variety of tasks depending on the skills of the volunteer as well as the current activities of the organization. Mainly the tasks are related to volunteer projects, international exchanges and other current initiatives.
The volunteer is expected to actively share videos and stories through social media channels in order to encourage other young people to volunteer and become active citizens .
The volunteer will co-organise events, trainings and other activities. The volunteer will have a role of a group leader or team leader in some short term volunteer projects and camp.
We are involved in several projects related to environmental issues empowering European youth to act for environment, climate and sustainability . We work to increase knowledge and awareness among youth on the issues. We run a volunteer project around Baltic Sea to enhance the importance of common action.
Promotion of volunteering locally and internationally in order to enhance the importance of voluntary work in intercultural and non-formal learning , wellbeing and active community are essential for us.
Accommodation and meals
You will be accommodated in shared apartment in Helsinki and you will have your own room. The location has good public transportation connection to the office and city center. You will receive food money to buy groceries and cook food for yourself.
Volunteer profile
The volunteering period is 4-8 weeks in July-August starting in early July if possible. We look for 1-2 volunteers with interest in working with and for young people related to intercultural learning, environment, sustainability, diversity and youth wellbeing. The volunteer will take part in organising events and trainings and act as a group leader, so interest towards these and experience are seen as an asset.
We are involved in several projects where the volunteer could assist in raising awareness on environmental and sustainability issues, climate justice and Baltic Sea.
Skills or previous volunteering or work experience related to communications (photographing, video making, story telling), group leading and non-formal learning will be useful.
We value sufficient level of English, self-initiative, active and positive attitude towards life as well as being comfortable leading a group.
The volunteer will be a member of a small but active team of Allianssi Youth Exchanges.
