Our new solidarity project🎉Helsinki (dis)connected

Are you bored of doomscrolling, but finding new hobbies seems expensive and difficult? Would you like to make new friends in a relaxed atmosphere? Come join the opening event of the Helsinki (dis)connected - Beyond the Screen solidarity project! 💚

Helsinki (dis)connected (or how we like to call it, HelDisco😎) was born with the desire to offer young adults a break from the screens and a place to discover new hobbies and interests. The EU-funded solidarity project will organize monthly events until May 2027, where participants can try new activities and meet new people. The aim is to encourage young people to develop their skills without a fear of judgement or comparison, to create a balanced and responsible relationship with the use of technology, to live more in the moment and create new meaningful connections. The events are always free for participants, and free vegan food is also served.

The project's opening event will be held on September 22nd. The event will feature speedfriending held by Tatskatytöt, board games, and pizza.

🌱 Helsinki (dis)connected  is a European Solidarity Corps (ESC) solidarity project. It’s created by youth, run by volunteers, and co-funded by the European Union.

It consists of monthly events, each featuring a different activity to take a break from the screens. The goal is to create a welcoming space where young people can meet, learn something new, discover their interests and build meaningful connections offline. We also offer free plant-based food.

Allianssi Youth Exchanges naming competition!

Allianssi Youth Exchanges has been operating since 1993, offering over 20,000 young adults opportunities for international engagement, learning, and new experiences over the years. We are active in many European networks, promoting youth participation, equality, and sustainable internationalization. We are also increasingly involved in developing international youth work.

Now, we want to look towards the future and find a name that better reflects our diverse range of activities!💫

Do you have a suggestion for our new name? 👀 Share your ideas with us during the month of September, all suggestions are welcome!

👉 Go suggest a name on our website. We will draw movie tickets among the participants! 🎬🍿

Right now, for example, you can apply for:

- Belgium, in many different projects😎

- Italy, helping a Caritas' Centre in Sicily👐

- Spain, supporting inclusive social projects🫂
