Baltic Sea Guardians Latvia 5.-20.6.26

Host organisation

Radi Vidi Pats is a community-based organisation from Liepāja, Latvia, working in the fields of environmental sustainability, community engagement, social inclusion and non-formal education. The organisation focuses on hands-on activities, learning by doing, and creating safe and open spaces for dialogue, cooperation and civic engagement.

The main goal of the volunteering team is to raise awareness about the importance of the Baltic Sea, its ecological value, and the impact of human activities on coastal and marine ecosystems, while encouraging concrete, everyday actions that support environmental sustainability.

Volunteer activities will be flexible and adapted to local conditions, weather and community needs, and may include:

  • Coastal, beach and dune clean-up actions in cooperation with local initiatives and municipalities

  • informative and participatory workshops about the Baltic Sea:
    – its ecological importance
    – pollution sources (agriculture, household waste, tourism, industry, consumer habits)
    – what the Baltic Sea provides to local communities  (also emotional part)
    – what individuals and communities can do to reduce negative impact

  • Awareness-raising activities such as creating infographics, posters or simple visual materials for residents and visitors

  • Mutual learning and experience exchange within the group and with local people

  • Informative cooperation with initiatives such as Mana jūra(My Sea), focusing on citizen science, marine litter monitoring and public awareness

  • Discussions on industrial impact on coastal areas and environmental responsibility

  • Community-building activities, such as evening reflection circles or informal “Baltic Sea Guardians” campfire evenings, fostering connection and shared responsibility for nature.

Non-formal education methods, reflection, group discussions and creative approaches will be integrated into daily activities.

Accommodation and food

Volunteers will be accommodated in shared rooms in simple but comfortable hostel.
