Folk it Up! 🤸‍♀️ 12th February

Join us for another joyful night of folk dancing, movement and connection!

We’ll start the evening with fun icebreakers and warm-up activities that mix dance and games, helping everyone feel comfortable and energized. Then our intercultural journey will take us to Southern Italy, where we’ll dive into the rhythms, steps and atmosphere of traditional dances from Calabria, Apulia and Campania. Get ready for lively music, grounding footwork and lots of shared energy 💃

The session will be facilitated by our special guest Claudia Giordano from TarantArte, who will guide us through the dances and tell us more about the cultural background.

You are warmly welcome whether this is your first Folk it Up! event or you’ve danced with us before — and no dance experience is needed. Curiosity and a willingness to move are more than enough 💫

As usual we’ll also have time to revisit some dances we’ve learned in previous events and, if you’d like, share folk dances from your own culture or traditions.

We’ll dance a lot, but we’ll also make space for breaks to socialize, catch our breath and enjoy some tasty vegan snacks provided by the project’s volunteers.💚

 📍   Location: Allianssi-talo, Asemapäällikönkatu 1 00520 Helsinki.  Allianssi-talo is wheelchair accessible and has accessible toilets. 
💰  Cost: Free! But registration is required—sign up below.
🌍  Language: The event is in English, but no worries if you’re not fluent—dance is universal! Plus, Finnish-speaking volunteers will be around to help.

🌱 What is Folk it Up?

Folk it Up! is a European Solidarity Corps (ESC) Solidarity Project, co-funded by the European Union. It’s free of charge, targeted to youth but open to everyone and volunteer-led. The project runs from September 2025 to March 2026, and you’re welcome to join at any time.
