Loimaa Power Cup 2025
Volunteers all over Europe joined together to help set up and organize the world’s largest yearly volleyball tournament - Power Cup for children and young people. More than 750 teams took part in this four-day sports event.
Volunteers played a vital role in bringing the event to life: they constructed playing fields, set up food stations, and supported international participants by offering guidance and assistance, among other responsibilities.

We asked the volunteers to share their thoughts on the experience:

After spending almost three incredible weeks as a volunteer in the Power Cup tournament, I can honestly say that this experience has left a lasting impression on me. Even though my time there was short, it was deeply enriching, both personally and technically. I was lucky to be surrounded by kind, attentive people who were always willing to listen and help. The other volunteers were open-minded and enthusiastic, which made our free time just as memorable as our work.
Volunteering not only allowed me to learn new skills, but also gave me the chance to meet people from all over the world and discover more about different cultures. I'm truly grateful for everything this experience brought me, grateful for the people I met, the things I learned, and for taking the step to be part of something new. It’s an experience I’ll carry with me for a long time.

On May 31st, I was excited as I sat on the plane heading to Finland. I had no specific expectations, but I still felt that this project would teach me a lot.
Upon arrival, I found myself in a calm yet lively environment where I was never bored. I had the opportunity to work alongside locals during the competition, who were incredibly intelligent and helpful. I tried my hand at various tasks, whether it was setting up volleyball courts or working in a café. Even during our free time, the activities kept us busy with a diverse program thanks to our mentors (Carme, Emil). We gained insights into Finland’s natural world; I saw a bear and a bobcat in their natural habitats for the first time in my life.
Beyond nature, we also explored culture, visiting four different cities, trying the authentic Finnish sauna, and even participating in a language lesson. Most importantly, I was part of a supportive community. Whenever I needed reassurance, my peers were there for me, and they also provided honest constructive criticism that helped me reflect on myself.
A final thought for those considering volunteering:
Don’t let fear stop you. Step out of your comfort zone and go home as a better version of yourself from your volunteering project.
Thanks for everything!

Today is the last day of this Power Cup Volunteer weeks. Have to say that I really enjoyed it. Starting summer and having new friends always is a good idea for nice vacations. Even I worked as a leader I had the opportunity to get involved with volunteers. We worked, laughed, eat and even go for a party together as a group and those are the things I keep with me always. Being here gave me a more open mind about different countries backgrounds and situations. I am always grateful to share moments with people so applying here was a good choose for me. -Emil

As part of PowerCup volunteering project in Finland , I explored new cultures, practiced languages, and shared my Ukrainian identity.
At PowerCup, I improved my English, supported my team, learned to manage emotions, and helped others feel comfortable.
This experience made me more open, confident, and inspired! -Даріна
