Folk it Up! 🇺🇦 Ukrainian Folk Dances

Our intercultural journey through intangible cultural heritage continues with another themed night of folk dances for beginners.

Two weeks ago, we had a special guest from Gaza — Tareq Abu Nahel — who taught us the basics of Palestinian Dabke. 🇵🇸

This time, Natalia Laiho, intern at the Helsinki Ukrainian Center located in Allianssi-talo and an amateur dancer, will share with participants some basic dances from her country of origin — Ukraine 🇺🇦

The dance steps will be low-threshold, suitable for beginners, and we will provide low-impact modifications.
You are welcome to join the evening whether or not you have participated in previous Folk it Up! events — and regardless of your dance skills! 💫

At the end, there will be some time to go over folk dances we’ve shared in previous events and/or other folk dances you have in mind!
We will dance a lot, but we’ll also make sure to include breaks to socialize, catch our breath, and enjoy some vegan snacks 🥗 provided by the project’s volunteers.

💚 This event follows safer space principles and will have a designated safer space contact person available.
