Deeds of Hope 🦋 Launch event

Join us for the launch of Deeds of Hope, a project dedicated to uncovering the vibrant heart of Helsinki — the communities and changemakers shaping the city and its surroundings.

This event marks the beginning of our European Solidarity Corps (ESC) solidarity project. The first in a series of monthly gatherings, this evening will introduce the vision behind Deeds of Hope and explore its goals:

🔹 To offer an accessible entry point into Helsinki’s activist scene
🔹 To create space for reflection on action, inaction, and what drives (or holds back) civic participation
🔹 To build bridges between grassroots movements and organizations that have shaped and are shaping Helsinki’s social and political landscape, and young people who wish to make the city their home.

Expect an inspiring evening of political engagement, relaxed socializing, and a free vegan dinner, all in good company —  bring some friends, or make them here!

👉 This event is free of charge (thanks to co-funding from the European Union), but registration is required – see details below!

🎉 16/9 Launch Event Program 🎉

🕕 18:00–21:00 — but feel free to come earlier to help us cook!

Here’s what the evening will look like:

• Icebreaker Session – Start getting to know each other
• Safer Space Principles & Group Agreements – Co-create a respectful, welcoming environment for all
• Project Presentation – Learn about Active Hope and how you can get involved
• Free vegan dinner & relax time
• Facilitated Mapping – Let’s co-create a comprehensive map of activist groups, movements, and organizations driving change in Helsinki and nearby areas. This map will help us shape future monthly events.
• Facilitated Group Dialogue – What does “activism” mean to us? How is it different from volunteering? Let’s explore together!
• Debrief – Share thoughts, reflections, feedback, or just chat with new friends

About the (free) food 🍲 Let’s cook together!

Thanks to EU funding, we’ll share a free plant-based meal. Throughout the project, we aim to partner with food producers and distributors to support our sustainability goals. We’ll strive to cook meals using:

🌿 Surplus food that would otherwise go to waste
🌿 Locally sourced, seasonal, and/or organically produced ingredients

Want to join the cooking team? Come before 18:00! No experience needed — all helping hands are welcome to make this a special event.
