The camp host is the local cultural association Mukula which organises various cultural events for children and young people such as an annual rock festival in Jalasjarvi. The festival attracts several thousand guests. The organiser has hosted many great work camps earlier related to this festival.
The volunteers will assist in organizing a local music festival in Jalasjarvi. Aukusti festival has been organised since 2000 (https://aukusti.fi/) The volunteers will assist in practical tasks, simple but sometimes heavy work, in arranging the event. The first week will mostly consist of building the fences and setting up and on the second week tidying up the area afterwards. So if you are interested in rock music and the Finnish countryside, and are ready to work hard outdoors in all weather conditions this is the camp for you.
Accommodation and food
The accommodation is at a local youth centre Wilhola within walking distance from the festival area. There is a shared sleeping area. Meals will be cooked together by the volunteers.
Jalasjarvi is located in Southern Ostrobothnia near Seinajoki and has about 8000 inhabitants. The youth centre has a lot of activities (own movie theatre!) and pool table, games etc.
Please note that there will physical tasks and outdoor work in all weather conditions. Project is supported by the European Solidarity Corps and open for 20-30 year old citizens and permanent residents of EU countries and Ukraine. Participation is free of charge, as well as board and lodging. Volunteers need to stay the full duration of the project in order to get pocket money (5 euros per day) and travel cost reimbursed (20-360 euros depending on the distance). Applicants need to send a motivation letter.
